Arsenal meet Man City for the second time in just four days which might test Einstein’s theory about the “definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”.

Wenger will certainly be hoping he can do SOMETHING to avoid a repeat of Saturday’s dismal effort which saw City stroll to a 3-0 win in the League Cup Final without frankly much resistance from the Gunners.

Certainly pressure on Wenger seems to be reaching fever pitch and another loss tonight might well finally see Wenger Out sooner rather than later. Star Sports have a special of 20/1 that it happens as early as tomorrow morning which would be dependent on the nature of any defeat. What the fateful need to see is fighting spirit over and above the actual result at this present time.

The reality for Arsenal is that the League table doesn’t lie. City are a 27 point superior side to them this season and the Gunners are also 10 points off a top four finish.

Wenger said ahead of tonight’s match: “We are very disappointed because we lost an important game [on Sunday]. We need to recover and prepare for the next challenge.

“It was a tight game until 2-0. City had three shots on target and we had two. We have to turn the decisive moments into our favour. We played a bit apprehensive and we need to have more freedom.

“It is part of our job to respond and to focus on the next game. We must do that in a united way.”

There’s been plenty of work going on to make tonight’s pitch playable. Earlier this afternoon the club issued a statement via arsenal.com to say: “Thursday night’s match against Manchester City at Emirates Stadium is scheduled to go ahead as planned”.
