5 Thoughts on Living in Dublin

I’ve been living in Dublin for 6 months now since coming to work at Star Spreads. I thought today I’ve give my thoughts on what it’s been like. It’s never easy living away from home: there are always things about home you miss and things about the new city you struggle to adjust to.

That said, Dublin is hardly Outer Monglia. In this article, I’ll give 5 things I’ve enjoyed about living out here. Next week I’ll give 5 things I wish I could change.

5 Things I Love About Living in Dublin

1. The Euro. I just love the Euro. I don’t mean the Euro as a geopolitical unit of currency. I mean I love the coins and notes. The twenty Euro note is a lovely piece of paper. The two Euro coin, a silver-and-gold masterpiece, feels lovely in the hand and in the pocket.

2. The lads in the office. From “The Judge” to “The Skipper”, the Irish office is filled with a lovely bunch of lads. We all get on really well and there’s a lovely buzz around the place.

3. The weather. It’s amazing the way the Irish moan about the weather. Let’s just say that I live in London and the weather in Dublin has consistently been warmer, brighter and drier than it is back home.

4. The pubs. I know it’s a cliché, but Irish pubs are cool. There’s often live music, sometimes table service and always a good atmosphere (good craic).

5. The punting. The Irish love their punting. There’s about five bookies on every street and everyone here loves to “mull” about horse racing. Being a punter myself, it’s heaven.
