Business end of Group H for Hodgson
We’ve reached the business end of Group H, in X Factor terms Roy Hodgson’s side have progressed through auditions, boot camp, judges houses and are now in the ‘live finals’.
England need to win both matches at Wembley to guarantee World Cup qualification, but that’s no certainty given how close Group H has become with the exception of Moldova and San Marino.
It’s now the business end of the Group and England must finish top of the group for automatic qualification for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, while a second-placed finish would result in a two-legged play-off in November.
First up is Montenegro on Friday. On paper it’s not the easiest task but the team news surely tilts the game firmly in England’s favour.
Montenegro are expected to be without without captain Mirko Vucinic, goalkeeper Mladen Bozovic, centre-back Marko Basa and midfielder Miodrag Pekovic against England because of injury.
The two sides have clashed three times before – on each occasion resulting in a draw.
England left-back Ashley Cole will miss the match because rib injury and it’s not clear whether he’ll be back in time for what could prove the vital match against Poland on Tuesday.
There’s a myriad of markets available with Star Spreads but the straightforward superiority England / Montenegro appeals most and I’m a buyer at around 1.6.
ADVICE
BUY ENGLAND / MONTENEGRO at around 1.6
