S.P. Read Esq. Hoping the Epsom judge will be busy
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq is predicting plenty of tight finishes on the Oaks card at Epsom today.

The distance market with Star Spreads probably appeals the most.
I’ve had a good look through the card and think it looks really competitive. Even the five runner Surrey Stakes at 4.45 could be close.
No surprise then that I am looking at a sell of distances.
The opening spread is set at 10-11 so with a sell at 10 we are looking for an aggregate of the winning distances to come in at less than 10 – or if you prefer an average of 1.4 lengths across the seven race card.
If if there is a three or four length winner on the card I still think there will be several close finishes to negate and hopefully the photo finish camera will see plenty of action !
