QPR finished rock bottom in the Premier League last season and are not currently finding life much easier in the Championship so far. They were beaten 2-0 at Charlton on the first day of the season before going on to beat Yeovil Town 3-0 midweek in the Capital One Cup.
Cardiff have done a little better – they drew their opening game with Fulham and also had a Capital One win against AFC Wimbledon.
QPR have a good head to head record against Cardiff – winning 13 of their last 17 home games and have only been beaten once in that period.
QPR striker Charlie Austin faces a late fitness test on a minor niggle. Winger Jamie Mackie (groin) is out but Clint Hill, Paul Konchesky, Tjaronn Chery and Massimo Luongo are expected to return after they were rested in midweek.
Cardiff are without striker Federico Macheda (back) and defenders Bruno Manga (knee) and Ben Turner (ankle).
