S.P.Read Esq: Leeds v Middlesbrough

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Championship game on Monday between LEEDS v MIDDLESBROUGH and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadMiddlesbrough still have painful memories of last season when losing out in the Championship Playoff at Wembley – the deepest cut in football and will be anxious to avoid playoff roulette again.

This is a massive match for them tonight. It sounds silly to say that for a team currently in second place – but they need to prove that they can put their recent wobbles behind them and get right back on track for an automatic spot. Three points tonight against mid-division Leeds will send them back to the top – one point ahead of Hull. Anything less, and nerves will jangle again.

Middlesbrough need to ‘do a Brighton’ who have impressively recovered from a recent run of three straight losses in the Championship with four straight wins to get their promotion hopes right back on track.

Middlesbrough’s dip has seen them with no wins from their last four games (two draws). Those defeats included one at lowly Bristol City.

They were mighty fortunate to secure a draw last time against the MK Dons – needing an injury time equaliser from new signing Jordan Rhodes who came on as a sub to get a point from a game which they dominated. Rhodes is expected to make his first start tonight and defender Daniel Ayala is back after an ankle injury.

Middlesbrough’s defence remains rock solid – but they need to score at the other end too and they have scored less than two goals in each of their last six matches.

Leeds have won their past three league matches against Middlesbrough at Elland Road but lost the reverse fixture 3-0 in September.

A welcome profit yesterday but I wanted more – no was it a Leicester penalty IMO and the buy of the first match goal should have been a lot better than 9 minutes profit 🙁

The third match goal sell at 80 appeals tonight.
