S.P.Read Esq: Hull v Arsenal

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the FA Cup game on Tuesday between HULL v ARSENAL and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadThere’s mounting pressure on Wenger – unfairly in my opinion – but their title charge does seem to have hit a brick wall.

It may put today’s FA Cup replay in a different light and it’s interesting to see plenty of early money for the Gunners in the expectation of Wenger naming a stronger side than otherwise might have been expected for tonight’s match which kicks off at the early time of 7pm. Certainly a stronger team than he chose when they met at the Emirates.

I can’t help but think that this is a competition that Hull will want to see the back of. They are currently in the very heat of the battle for a place in the Premier League and heading the play-off spots but still three points adrift from an automatic spot.

Steve Bruce has seen his side come off the boil in recent weeks with a lacklustre defeat against Birmingham last week and 0-0 draws against Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday.

If I was Bruce, I would take a defeat tonight if it meant the FA Cup was no longer a distraction to getting a prized spot in the Premier League.

Bruce said: “The priority is the league and where we want to get to. We want to be playing the Arsenals and the Chelseas every week. But there’s nothing quite like an FA Cup tie or FA Cup run. Once it gets to this stage there’s all to play for.”

“There are a whole raft of teams playing in the Championship on Tuesday – there’s a full fixture list. If we manage to get through then we will have to move our game on Saturday too, so the fixtures just pile up and that is a bit of a concern.”

“Thankfully we have got everybody fit. Some of the squad haven’t played since the first game against Arsenal so it will be good for them.”

The winners face Watford in the quarter-finals on Sunday. Given the Gunners have won on each of their last five visits to Hull in all competitions, scoring at least twice on each occasion I am fully expecting the quarter-final to be an all London affair.
