Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the darts semi-final on Saturday between Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadA profit of 79.5 points to start the New Year in style yesterday when SPURS beat CHELSEA !

The darts is still on….. so Christmas isn’t over just yet, right ?

We’re reaching the final furlong at the Ally Pally and there’s a cracker of a semi-final on Saturday as defending champion Michael van Gerwen takes on Gary Anderson who was a finalist himself in 2011.

MVG is looking very good for the repeat win and booked his place in a third successive semi-final with a sensational 170 checkout against Robert Thornton securing a 5-2 win. His average of 105.26 was his highest ever in the PDC Championships and he also knocked in the small matter of 13 maximums – unlucky for Thornton who battled back well in the game.

Anderson also came through his semi-final in style beating Peter Wright 5-1 on New Year’s Day. It was Wright who MVG beat in last year’s final to take his first title.

MVG is around 1/2 with Star Sports fixed odds for the win which is no surprise.

On the spreads I’m most interested in the total 180′s market on Star Spreads and I’m a seller at 25.2 which looks a tad high.
