Why I Love Spread Betting

I have been spread betting for about 5 years now. I can’t say it will ever replace fixed odds betting for me, but it’s something I love.

I wanted to share with you in this short post the five reasons I love spread betting.

1. The range of markets. Spread betting allows you to bet on every aspect of the match. In a cricket match, the result is fine for betting via fixed odds. But if you want to bet on batsman runs, session runs etc, then only spread betting will do.

2. You can buy or sell. I love being able to “get with” and “gat against” certain teams or players. Yes betfair has allowed punters to “lay” certain things, but spread betting gives you much more freedom to do so.

3. The more right you are, the more you win. There’s nothing more frustrating than having a fixed odds bet, getting it “really right” but only winning the fixed stake. With spread betting, if you fancy a football team and they batter the opposition, you win loads.

4. It’s cool. Buy! Sell! Close! Trade! Spread betting is just much cooler than fixed odds betting.

5. You can cut your losses and lock in gains. Spread betting allows you the freedom to trade in and out of positions, which makes it great for reducing a big downside and for taking profits when things go your way.
