Best Olympic Moments So Far

I’m writing this on Thursday 2nd August. There’s great racing at Goodwood, the 2nd test between and England and SA, and I’m even getting to watch my watch my beloved Chicago White Sox polish off the pesky Minnesota Twins on repeat.

But it’s Olympics I want to taklk about today. I haven’t been paying it load of attention to be honest. I don’t have a tv at home in my flat and I have been avoiding anything Olympics-related because I resent how – as a London resident – I have been told when and where I can go in my own city.

But a few things have caught my eye. So here are my favourite moments in the Olympics 2012 so far:

1. The Opening Ceremony. I watched this in a pub beer garden while having a few beers at a friend’s birthday party. It seemed good fun for me. For a right-winger, I was a bit troubled about the liberal-lefty overtones, but the stuff with James Bond was fun.

2. The swimming. I’m back into swimming once they ditched the cheaty suits that basically allowed them to flot on the water. One question? What happened to Thorpe? The Thorpedo? He was the best ever – you can keep your Phelps.

3. The cycling. I love watching Wiggins cycle. He looks so normal and unpreposessing. If I told you he was a barman at a local pub you wouldn’t think it sounded strange. Yet he’s one of the fittest athletes in the world.
