The Ashes 1st Test – Day 2

Published On July 11, 2013 | By dominic | Cricket, Graham

The Ashes got underway on Wednesday with a fascinating and frenzied day’s play that saw 14 wickets fall and two hat-trick attempts for either side. The star of the Aussie bowl attack was undoubtedly Peter Siddle who took an impressive haul of 5 wickets which included two of the most prized wickets in Joe Root and Jonathan Trott as England stuttered to a total of 215 all out.

England’s response was swift with Steven Finn taking out Shane Watson and Ed Cowan in successive balls but perhaps the ball of the day was James Anderson’s superb delivery to Australia’s captain Michael Clarke which saw him bowled for a duck. Incidentally any client who bought Clarke or Cowan Runs today here at Star Spreads will receive a refund of up to £500 thanks to our fantastic ‘money back if your batsman goes for a duck’ offer that we will be running throughout the 1st Test.

So what will day 2 bring? Well probably more of the same as regards wickets falling with the weather forecast set fair for more hot and dry conditions on an already dry, cracked wicket. England  must have been fearing the worst after losing their last four wickets for just two runs but will now begin tomorrow with their tails up after reducing the visitors to 75/4 at the close of play.

If the second day’s action is half as exciting as the first then we are still in for a real treat and here at Star Spreads we have a plethora of markets for you to bet on so whether it’s an individual batsman’s runs or a win index that catches your eye then please don’t hesitate to call us on 0808 2349709 to place your bets.
