Villa holding their own in 'nightmare' fixture list

Aston Villa fans must have wondered what the fixture list computer had against them when they saw their opening matches in the 2013/14 season.

Arsenal, Chelsea and tonight Liverpool in the 5.30 kick off at Villa Park.

Considering the opposition – Villa have made a cracking start – the highlight of course being their opening day defeat of Arsenal.

They were unlucky not to get a point away to Chelsea when losing 2-1 but holding their own in the second half and being denied what looked a clear cut penalty.

With home advantage this might be harder for Liverpool than the pre-match odds suggest.
