Southampton v Liverpool (5.30pm SKY)

Published On March 1, 2014 | By dominic | Star Spreads

Thank you Napoli, on Thursday, for your late winner and sealing my (-1) three way handicap bet for a profit of 7 points on Star Spreads.

It brought to an end a profitable February for the column – 98.5 points up to recommended stakes – just falling short of the century.

And now March and what a month we have ahead. Cheltenham Festival, brilliant football, Six Nations, golf, the list goes on…..

The quest for a profit starts though at St Mary’s tonight for Southampton v Liverpool (SKY 5.30pm).

It’s always been a tough hunting ground for Liverpool – it’s 11 years since they last won at St Mary’s and Southampton are the only side to win at Anfield this season.

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Sep 2013 Premier Liverpool 0-1 Southampton
Mar 2013 Premier Southampton 3-1 Liverpool
Dec 2012 Premier Liverpool 1-0 Southampton
Jan 2005 Premier Southampton 2-0 Liverpool
Dec 2004 Premier Liverpool 1-0 Southampton
Mar 2004 Premier Southampton 2-0 Liverpool
Dec 2003 Premier Liverpool 1-2 Southampton
Jan 2003 Premier Southampton 0-1 Liverpool
Nov 2002 League Cup Liverpool 3-1 Southampton
Aug 2002 Premier Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Liverpool are now the top scorers in the Premier League with 70 goals from their 27 matches, and it’s easy to see plenty of goals tonight.

Depending on how the earlier results go (or result singular as only Arsenal can make a difference, Liverpool could move into second place behind Chelsea and it’s clearly a match they will be desperate to win to maintain their title charge.

It’s the start of a tough run for Liverpool with three away games in a row but I think they are up for it and happy to back them on the Star Spreads superiority market.
