Wimbledon Preview: by Skipper

Any other summer but a World Cup one would see Wimbledon as the centre point of the holidays sporting calendar. While most of us will be watching the round of 16 and the World Cup quarters Wimbledon will be in full flight. (At least the finals don’t clash!)

This year sees Andy Murray returning to Centre Court to defend his crown with the likes of high flying Novak Djokovic and the lively Rafael Nadal looking to spoil the Brits party. Even the old master of Centre Court, Roger Federer, will want his say on where the trophy (and £1,600,000) end up this year.

As I am an early bird I will be looking at the pre draw betting for this blog as the seeds have already been announced with the draw to follow tomorrow.

Seeds:
1 Novak Djokovic (Ser)
2 Rafael Nadal (Spa)
3 Andy Murray (GB)
4 Roger Federer (Swi)
5 Stan Wawrinka (Swi)

I will be having a flurry on the youngster Milos Raonic at 66/1 (general) to make a splash at the tournament this year. He has improved year on year and in my opinion it’s only a matter of time that he is mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Djok, Rafa, Murray and Co.

66/1 looks fair enough and who knows what can happen on C.C this year.

One thing I do know is that I will be laying Federer at 6/1. With 3 superior players in the event (In my opinion 4) he will have too much to overcome. I think it’s time for the Fed express to pull up at the station for good. Hang up the whites Roger you’re all done mate.

If I had a spare £500 there is still a small bit of 2.8 available on Novak Djokovic that could see you right. Sometimes it is best to look at these things very simply. The best player in the world right now is a little shorter than 15/8 for a competition he has already proved he can win.

Forget any British pride you may have, let’s just pretend we are all Serbian for a few weeks… Trust me it will be worth it.

Good Luck,
Happy punting,
Skipper.
