Liverpool are by no means invincible at Anfield this season and this might not be as straightforward as the betting suggests.

Newcastle have already caused problems for Liverpool this season with a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park and whilst this isn’t a game that Rafael Benitez would expect to take anything away from, such is Newcastle’s perilous place in the table that even a point could prove priceless.

Benitez said: “The relationship [with Liverpool], the connection, is so obvious. We just have to make sure we do our best in this game and then afterwards wish them all the best.

“You have to have this confidence coming from the game against Manchester United, coming from the first half against Bournemouth.

“There are a lot of positives that we have seen and we have to make sure we replicate this at Anfield.”

Liverpool have the chance themselves to move into second spot in the table ahead of Man U playing at Crystal Palace on Monday.

The bottom line is that Liverpool are unbeaten in 21 league games against Newcastle at Anfield since a 0-2 defeat in April 1994 (W17, D4) and in the respective current form it’s hard to see the sequence being snapped.
