Dundalk
The Group Three Diamond Stakes (9.00) is the featured race on a marathon eight race card at Dundalk this Friday. The Galway winner Zanughan and the ultra-consistent Bob Le Beau might be the two to side with in this valuable contest.Â
The opener on the card is the first of our juvenile maidens at 6.00, a race where Ger O’Leary’s Busalla and Paul Flynn’s La Oliva can both be expected to go well.
The fillies maiden at 6.55 is a fascinating contest where the Wachman-trained Jessie Jane, who showed great zest when taking third spot on her debut (Coral Wave 4th), will be hard to beat. Remember also this filly already holds a tentative entry in the next year’s Curragh Oaks.
The Fox Tully makes his handicap debut for Gerry Keane in division one of the one mile handicap and is an entry worth monitoring in the betting. Another to note in this race could be the consistent, if a little luckless, Footprint.
The second division of the one miler sees both Sports Casual and the Michael Browne-trained Funatfuntasia in with chances, while the fillies’ maiden could be an opportunity for Peter Casey’s Candlehill Girl and the once raced Judies Child.
The Oxx-trained pair Dariwiya and Sinntani are both worthy of consideration in the featured handicap at 8.30, a race where due cognisance should be made of the fact that that Mark Johnston sends across Licence To Till, a horse who looks for a second track success this evening.
Racing draws to a close at 9.25 where the consistent but occasionally recalcitrant Apache Drums and the recent Kempton winner Single Lady might be worth speculating against the field in what looks a tough finale.
