S.P.Read Esq: Liverpool v Southampton

Just when you thought it was safe to get up from the sofa….. it’s not. The final part of Super Sunday’s Premier League action will be played out at Anfield as Liverpool host Southampton.
It’s Jurgen Klopp’s first league home game – his first match at Anfield was earlier this week when Liverpool disappointingly couldn’t convert a half-time score of 1-1 to a win despite Rubin being down to 10 men.
Liverpool are very much draw specialists this season. Incredibly seven of their last eight matches across all competitions have ended all-square. The only result that spoit that from being a perfect eight was their 3-2 win over Aston Villa (BREAKING NEWS: Tim Sherwood sacked today as Villa’s manager).
Klopp has already proved one thing. He is no miracle worker and shaping this Liverpool side is going to take some time. From the Liverpool supporters point of view hopefully this will be slightly speedier than Brendan Rodger’s infamous ‘three year plan’.
Southampton will be a tough challenge. They have won three of their last four games and in their last match earned a 2-2 draw with Leicester who are themselves in great form this season.
Liverpool are again likely to be without Daniel Sturridge due to his ongoing knee injury but Klopp will be pleased to have the services of Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino after their recent absences.
Southampton’s goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has overcome a back problem and Cedric Soares is also fit despite suffering a cut above his eye last weekend.
