NFL Punting Rules

Of course you should have each bet on its merits, but there are certain rules that will get you on track when betting on the NFL. So here are my top three NFL betting tips.

1. Beware the road favourite: road favs always look tempting, because it’s chance to get with the better team only giving up a small start. But don’t forget the home-field advantage, and that bad teams are far more motivated in their own stadium. It’s no secret that pro punters love a home underdog- so focus on these first when you’re looking at the slate of games.

2. Losers often have better stats: it’s a strange quirk of NFL games that the team that ends up losing may finish with the “better” stats. In particular, the losing Quarterback will typically have MORE yards than his counterpart. So if you dabble in spread betting, you may want to get with the Quarterback of the team you fancy TO LOSE.

3. Remember the big numbers: because of the scoring system in the NFL, matches with a margin of victory of 3, 4 and 7 more than any other number. Big numbers for totals include 37, 40, 41 and 44. This can mean that the odd half a point here or there can make a huge difference. A team might be a bet at +3.5 but a pass at +3.
