Korean Grand Prix Preview by Tony T
The 2013 F1 Drivers Championship and Constructor’s Championship are all over bar the shouting even with 6 races to go.
The biggest question is if this weekend’s race, the Korean Grand Prix, will take place. Formula 1 organisers are monitoring a tropical storm that is passing through parts of Asia ahead of Sunday’s Korean Grand Prix. While it may not hit South Korea, the storm could still cause heavy rain and strong winds to affect the region. This could be the great leveller needed to stop Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull team from extending their championship leads.
Sebastian Vettel is on a great run at present, winning the last 3 races by comfortable margins. His odds for winning the race is now similar to when Michael Schumacher was utterly dominate in his Ferrari days. Any value you could find backing Vettel prior to qualifying to win the race has now gone. The 2/1 / 9/4 available pre-summer break has now disappeared, being replaced with odds of 4/6 / 4/7.
There will be minimal upgrades to the cars, if any at all, in the remaining 6 races. Therefore, it is difficult to see how the Ferrari, Lotus and Mercedes can close the gap on Red Bull.
The Winning Margin market for the race may offer the best value of the weekend. Vettel has won his last 3 races by a margin of 32, 5 and 17 seconds. A buy at 13 could prove to be the profitable way forward this weekend if you fancy a bet on the Korean Grand Prix.
